Ripple
SS 19: Believed to have been
built in St Ives in 1894. She had a 13 hp engine
installed in 1915. It is believed that she had
some work on the hull in around 1927 by Peake's
of Newlyn and it is thought that two new engines
of 26 hp were also then fitted. She fished under
the ownership of the Barber family until 1933
when she had a fire below decks at Newlyn and
then ceased fishing.
For 50 years she then became a
house-boat on the Fal for Ralph Tomlin. After
several other owners she finally sank at her
moorings and was taken ashore.
She was bought by John
Lambourn and transported by road from Penryn on
Monday 20th October 2003 to a site next to
Cosalt at Newlyn.
She is double-ended and 15
tons, 44' long with a beam of 12' and has been restored on site.
She is in Newlyn Harbour being fitted out as at
November 2007.

Update April 2008: The Ripple
is still being restored and is afloat in Newlyn
harbour undergoing fitting-out. More information is being
compiled and will follow with more photographs
shortly.
