Deck Fitting
Details
Eye-Bolts
There are some shots on deck
and others down below to show the fixing detail.
We have taken some bolts through the deck
forward amid-ships and then through the deck
beams, and through the covering board in
various places port and starboard abreast and
aft of the
mast. Similarly, with the mizzen mast bolts,
although strictly speaking these more usually
went through the bulwarks as the load is
not great.

Raft Irons
Initially fitted to
the port side to accommodate the spars and stowed
sails when not in use in Mount's Bay boats (called
a "raft"). We shall fit another pair
starboard to hold the sweeps and extra spars.
There is also an added safety factor as they do
support the crew above the rail in difficult sea
conditions.
